Where is the garden located?
Land for the Cloquet Community Garden (CCG) was generously donated by Zion Lutheran Church. The Garden is located next to the church at 1000 Washington Ave, Cloquet, MN.
Who can use the garden?
The Community Garden is open to anyone in the Cloquet area!
Is there a cost?
We ask that each gardener pay $20 per garden to help with maintenance costs and supplies, but we will not turn anyone away for inability to pay. If you would like to have a garden but cannot afford the cost, please call 218-879-8404.
How did the garden get started?
The Cloquet Community Garden was designed and developed by a committee of volunteers from the Cloquet community. The CCG committee meets monthly throughout the year. If you are interested in serving on the committee, call 218-879-8404 for more information.
Who maintains the garden?
All gardeners are expected to help out in the garden with general tasks such as spring prep, weeding, and fall clean-up. If major repairs or projects are needed, the CCG Committee will make assessments and arrangements. During the growing season (May-Sept.), gardeners are expected to volunteer their time on at least 2 garden work days. Work days are every Thursday from 4pm-7pm.
Do I need gardening experience?
No previous gardening experience is necessary. Garden mentors are available.
Where do I find help for my garden plot?
In the true spirit of community, all gardeners are encouraged to get to know their fellow gardeners and ask for help when needed. For example, if you are planning to be out of town for a few days, you could ask other gardeners to water and weed your plot. If you have questions about anything, don't hesitate to ask a member of the CCG Committee. They will direct you to the appropriate person who can help.
